I am that one perfect flaw among the characters in the book of life.

Joie Fikolo writes books, which, considering where you’re reading this, makes perfect sense. She likes to think of herself as a budding writer on Wattpad and Sofanovel. Her current on-going books are titled "The Last of the White Wolves" and "Mafia Concerto". She also writes poems about love, pain, heartache, grief, sorrow, relationships and moving on. She enjoys brief tragedies with a twist of dark humor. Joie also writes on her blog whenever she feels like it.

No matter what, may we all continue to dream the dreams that move our hearts.

I see you have stopped by my page.

Are you looking for some relatable reads?

Are you looking for some writing tips?

Well. Look no more! Check out my "blogs" below! Tap on the titles to continue reading the whole articles.

A friend of mine just recently opened up about having dark thoughts. The more I listened to him, the more I saw part of myself in him.

Life happens. But for some reason, when we are in your 20s, the uncertainties pile up. We feel so lost, so confused, so unsure. What do we want? How do we get there? Are we willing to fight for our dreams? Is this life still worth living? Why is life so unfair? Why do people die young? Why do hearts break like glass?

And when these dark thoughts come to my mind
I would close me eyes knowing you’ll come alive
And anchor me back to safety shore
To protect me from these inner storms

So you’re an up-and-coming Wattpad writer…

You’ve read and studied how Wattpad works and applied what you learned because you want to gain more readers. You’ve joined book clubs. You participated in writing contests.

Whatever story or genre you write in, one of the best ways to promote your works is through social media. I have a personal bias for Instagram...

I dream the dreams that move my heart and stir my mind.

I am a self-proclaimed poet and a wannabe writer. (I really don’t know the difference because a writer and a poet both create their crafts through words, right?) But there is a definite distinction between the two. The current dream is to publish a book one day, but for now, I am just writing for fun.

Anyhow, ever since I could remember, I have been drafting stories on my mind but I never wrote them down. The farthest I got was trying to write a synopsis for it. Thing is once I imagined the story on my mind and finished it, I would no longer bother to write them down. Then at eight years of age, I fell in love with poetry. I started writing poetry from the classical rhyming 4-lined stanzas to free verses.

Then the quarantine happened and I got stuck at home doing nothing because I happened to have quit my job. With nothing to do, I just started writing a story, finally and uploaded it to Wattpad. I created separate writing accounts on social media and tried to reach out to other writers. However, it became exhausting and a little bit disheartening because sadly, some writers especially on Wattpad are only after vote trades, follow trades and comment trades without really reading the writers’ works. I didn’t want that, I wanted readers. So I started joining book clubs that didn’t have to ask for those things. Having joined one called the ProjectWerewolves Book Club greatly improved my storytelling. When I started out, I thought I was a great writer, already. But it turned out, I have a long long way to get there.

And I am taking my time because great things can’t be rushed, right? (I know, I may be so full of myself but I want to be a great writer. I want to make an impact through my writings.)

And if I’m being honest, writing is fun. I stopped comparing myself to other writers and poets and just wrote what I wanted and expressed myself. From then on, I started to feel better about my writings. And the only thing that I would compete with from now on is myself. Because we all have our separate journeys.

And I know that not all of us will make it “great” someday, but isn’t that the beauty of it all? What are the chances?

So if you have read till here, I would like to get to know you too, as a writer. Tell me about your works and the things that inspire you to write.

I wanted to make a writing community or group but I know that I wouldn’t be able to fully commit myself to it because just like you, I too have a life outside this writing world. And I love to sleep too much.

Currently, I am uploading my works on two platforms namely Sofanovel and Wattpad. I do try to update them as often as I can.

A couple of years ago, I stumbled on Instagram poetry and started my own poetry writing account. But because I am fickle as can be, I kept changing my handle name and the theme of my feed. Still, I was able to grow my account, but it got hacked and I started a new one again. I wasn’t as passionate about it as I was when I first started but now, I try to be consistent with my posts and my theme. Because who doesn’t love aesthetics, right? I want it to be messy but clean looking at the same time (I don’t get it, too). If you happen to like poetry, you could check out my other Instagram account @fikolopoetry.
